Jump Start

Jump Start, our onboarding programming for tenure-track faculty, consists of three phases, each of which is required. Meetings and materials help you build a foundation for long-term career success through a strong community of support and access to resources across campus.

All Jump Start materials are available via Canvas, our learning management system.

Dates for Jump Start 2025 are as follows:

Phase 1: Online - July 21 - August 1

Jump Start begins with asynchronous modules that will encourage you to interact with each other as you reflect on your journey to this point and become familiar with SJSU’s organizational culture.

Phase 2: In Person August 4 - August 8

This week runs from 9:00am to 4:00pm daily and explores key resources essential to establishing a foundation for success at SJSU. Please note: There is a reception for new faculty at the President's house on the evening of August 8 to close out the week.

Phase 3: Wednesday Workshops - August 27 to December 3

These meetings take place every Wednesday from 12-1:15 pm and will introduce you to additional campus resources and communities. The first Wednesday of each month is organized by your college leadership team (Dean and Associate Deans).
