Bicycle Use at SJSU
As the California State University's most urbanized campus, SJSU is unique in its location in the heart of downtown San José. For many students, faculty and staff, getting to and from campus on bicycles, scooters and other mobility devices is an essential part of their commute. SJSU supports and encourages all non-automobile transportation as sustainable, equitable and accessible methods of transportation to get to and from campus.
However, because of the dense campus footprint and large foot traffic, SJSU encourages all users of non-Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant mobility devices to be mindful of speed and reduce the injury risk to themselves and others.
The Seventh Street paseo/plaza is an area defined by high volumes of pedestrian traffic. University Police (UPD) will enforce a dismount zone between the Student Union and SRAC during busy weekday hours and special events. Do not ride your mobility devices in this area.
No motorized vehicles (automobiles/cars; gas-powered motorycles or scooters, etc.) are allowed at all on the main SJSU campus. These devices must be parked outdoors along street parking or in the campus parking garages.
