Bio
Dr. Mithila Guha is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at San José State University
whose scholarship focuses on marketing analytics, brand activism, online strategies,
and the transformative role of marketing in advancing positive social change. Her
research uses quantitative methods to examine brand-consumer interactions across digital
and social media platforms and has been published in the Journal of Brand Management.
Dr. Guha has received national and international recognition for her work, including
the prestigious 2024 Paul R. Lawrence Fellowship (the first awarded to an SJSU faculty
member), the 2025 AAPOR Burns “Bud” Roper Fellowship, and the Best in Track Award
at the 2022 Summer AMA Conference in the Digital & Social Media Marketing Track. Dr.
Guha currently serves as an SJSU AI Faculty Fellow (2025–2026), supported by Adobe’s Future of AI Collaboratory, where she is advancing the responsible
integration of artificial intelligence into teaching and learning.
Beyond her academic research and leadership roles, she is also a certified Mental
Health First Aider, reflecting her commitment to student well-being and to making
a positive impact within and beyond the classroom.
