Apply for Graduation

Starting April 14, 2025, the graduation application process for Business students has changed.

Students must be within two semesters of satisfying all their degree requirements to be eligible to apply for graduation.

Graduation Application Steps

Step 1: Confirm your graduation date!
Connect with an upper division business advisor to verify your expected graduation term. During this meeting, you can create a graduation plan with the advisor to ensure you complete your remaining requirements. Refer to the FAQs below for additional concentration-specific notes.

Step 2: Submit your graduation application!
Apply to graduate by following the Office of the Registrar's "How to Apply" instructions. All steps must be completed by the Office of the Registrar Graduation Application deadline(s).

  • If your major is NOT correct on MyProgress, complete the Change of Major process, BEFORE continuing to Step 3. Students must adhere to the change of major deadlines listed on our Change of Major website.
  • If you do not see the "Apply Button" in MySJSU, contact your Graduation Evaluator (based on last name and college).

Step 3: Follow your graduation plan!
Enroll in the courses listed on your approved graduation plan. If you enroll in different courses than what is listed on your graduation plan, check in with an upper division business advisor to ensure you are still meeting your requirements.

  • BUS3 189 is restricted to a student's graduating term (i.e. if you apply for Spring 2026 graduation, you will get access to enroll in the course for Spring 2026).
  • BUS3 189 enrollment will no longer be managed by JHSSC advisors. After you have submitted your graduation application, the College of Business will follow up with you by email with instructions for enrolling in BUS3 189 (generally 5-7 business days).
  • Some students may need to complete a petition to enroll in excess units, which requires both a business advisor and the associate dean’s signature. Approval is not guaranteed. This is an online form initiated by a business advisor.

In some cases, additional documentation (equivalency or substitution forms, for example) may be required.

  • Refer to your approved Graduation Plan for more information regarding equivalency or substitution forms for major requirements
