Frequently Asked Questions

Why do we have deadlines?

These deadlines have been established with sensitivity to the Curriculum Review Process and the workload assigned to staff to publish the Academic Catalog, Academic Advising Tools (MyRoadmaps, MyProgress, MyPlanner), and Schedule of Classes. The publications of these resources in a timely manner ensures our students have opportunities to review and discuss them with their advisors before class registration.

Why can programs only be revised once a year when we have a digital catalog and schedule?

The Academic Catalog is only officially published once annually (usually in April). While corrections are made after publication, a PDF copy of the publication must be submitted to the Veteran's Affairs Office, TES, and ASSIST (for articulation purposes). Additionally, according to California Title 5 requirements, a student has catalog rights to a specific catalog's program requirements. If there are discrepancies between the digital catalog and the reported PDF catalogs, the university may negatively impact students aid eligibility. Therefore, the Academic Catalog must "freeze in time" once published.
