The Chicano/Latino/x Faculty and Staff (CLFSA) Drs. Galarza & Castro Scholarships for 2025-2026
Sponsored by the Chicana/Latino/x Faculty and Staff Association (CLFSA) of San José State University, the annual scholarship was established to honor Drs. Galarza & Castro's commitment to the Chicana/o/x & Latina/o/x community. CLFSA provides scholarship awards, in collaboration with community organization and agencies, to assist students in their pursuit of higher education at San José State University. Scholarships honor Drs. Galarza & Castro by addressing a barrier students face in their pursuit of higher education.
The Dr. Ernesto Galarza Institute, a community-based organization, collaborates with CLFSA to provide scholarships to incoming transfer students from regional community colleges. Some scholarships may be offered to CC transfers.
SJSU Continuing Graduate students, undergraduate students, as some Fall incoming transfers from Select Regional Community Colleges are invited to apply.
Awards will be presented at the CLFSA Scholarship Symposium in the Spring term. The event is held at the AAACNA Studies Center at MLK Library at SJSU. Scholarship recipients will be formally recognized, and all members of the campus and the larger community are invited to attend.
Applications are due January 16, 2026, by 5:00p.m. Please contact Prof. Julia Curry Rodríguez for any additional information or questions at julia.curry@sjsu.edu. Share this scholarship with friends.
