Bio

Dr. Dawkins’ educational approach revolves around empowering students to think critically, develop into compassionate nurse leaders, and champion health equity. She teaches across all levels of nursing education, spanning undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. Her teaching methodologies encompass experiential learning, case-based studies, and real-world applications, such as Zoom escape rooms, standardized patient scenarios featuring real patient actors, and reflective debriefing practices.

Her scholarly contributions through peer-reviewed journal publications shed light on the social determinants of health and the structural inequities perpetuating disparities in healthcare access and healthcare simulation. She is deeply committed to advancing health equity through research, community engagement, and policy advocacy.

In addition, she actively participates in local flu clinics, mentors at public schools, and collaborates with non-profit organizations.

She is also an original member of the IncluDE Committee, which fosters diversity, inclusivity, acceptance, and equity within INACSL (International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning) and the broader healthcare simulation community, thereby positively influencing the nursing profession and society.
